All praise is due to Allāh, the Lord of all Creation. May the peace and blessings of Allāh be upon our Noble Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, His Family, His Companions and all those who follow him correctly until the establishment of the Hour.
Alhamdulillāh, during the course of our ʿUmrah trip, Allah allowed us to visit Shaykh Ahmad Zahrani حفظه الله on Sunday 7th September — after Maghrib — at his masjid, Jāmiʿ Bin ʿUbayd in Makkah.
Shaykh Ahmad حفظه الله تعالى began with praise of Allah سبحانه وتعالى and sending salutations upon the Prophet ﷺ. He then gave specific advice for those in the West as well as general advice to the brothers present. The following is a paraphrased transcription of the advice of the Shaykh, may Allah preserve him:
“My advice, first for myself and then for you, is that we must hold firmly to the Book of Allah and the authentic Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, upon the understanding of the Salaf as-Salih in every aspect of our lives.
It is a duty upon you to strive to leave the lands of disbelief and migrate to the lands of the Muslims. Remaining in the West brings with it numerous harms: to your religion, your worldly life, your family affairs, your social standing, your finances, and even your mental wellbeing.
The Prophet ﷺ warned against residing in the lands of the disbelievers, except in cases of genuine necessity. And necessity is defined according to its precise limits, not according to our own desires. Do not let Shaytān deceive you into thinking you are in a state of necessity when you are not.
So, beware of Shaytān’s whispers and tricks in this matter, and exhaust every possible means to make Hijrah. Look at those who have already migrated to the Muslim lands: their condition, in truth, is far better than those who stayed behind.
Even if you think they are worse off materially, often their financial situation is in fact no less than yours — and the blessing they have is far greater: the ability to establish the rituals of Islam openly and with ease.
Do not be deceived by the wealth, opportunities and glitter of Europe or elsewhere. Do not say: “I am comfortable here while those who migrated are struggling.” You do not know — perhaps their condition is better than yours in every sense, including financially.
What is certain is that the religious comfort and social ease of being among Muslims, practising your deen without obstruction, is worth far more than wealth or status in the West.
Matters such as trade, study, or official positions of necessity (like an ambassador or minister) can fall under the category of necessities that permit prohibitions. But if it is not a genuine necessity, the ruling does not change. This is the summary of my advice, and Allah knows best.
It is upon us to adhere firmly to the Book of Allah and the authentic Sunnah of the Messenger ﷺ, upon the way of the Salaf in both speech and action.
Commit yourselves to seeking knowledge of the Shariah — knowledge of the Qur’an and Sunnah. Take knowledge from the senior scholars who are firmly grounded in this path.
Read the books that provide you with a strong basis and a clear foundation in Islamic knowledge. Begin with the smaller, more essential treatises before moving on to the larger works.
Knowledge must be taken step by step. Among the important works of this time are:
All of these are from the writings of Shaykh al-Islam Muhammad ibn ʿAbdul-Wahhab رحمه الله.
Most of these works have already been translated into English by Maktabah Salafiyyah, so they are accessible. Read them, and consult your mashāyikh at Maktabah Salafiyyah about which books are most appropriate for your level of knowledge.
The Prophet ﷺ said: “The blessing is with your elders.”
These mashāyikh with you are from your elders, inshā’Allāh. With them is goodness. They are students of the senior scholars, known to the senior scholars, praised by them, and their fruits are apparent — all praise belongs to Allah. So ask them what is suitable for your level.
For example, if someone is a university-level student, like Ustādh Abdul Hakeem, it would not be suitable to give him a beginner’s book. He should move to a more advanced text. On the other hand, a beginner should not be given Kitab at-Tawheed straight away. Rather, he should start with something smaller — such as The Four Principles — to establish the foundation of his creed.
Knowledge is taken step by step, level by level. Who determines what suits each person? It is your mashāyikh who are with you.
Adorn yourselves with noble character and virtuous manners. This is part of cultivating our own souls and being examples for others — our brothers, our children, our families, and the wider community. Do this sincerely for the sake of Allah, not to seek praise, recognition or reputation.
Stay away from trials and tribulations. Stay away from them in every form of communication. Instead, busy yourselves with that which truly matters in your day and in your night.
And if something happens to you from the affairs of trials or difficulties, then ask your teachers. You have with you Shaykhs Abu Khadeejah, Abdulilah Lahmami, Uways, and other teachers whom I know. Many of them I know personally.
إن هذا العلم دين فانظروا عن من تأخذون دينكم
“Indeed, this knowledge is religion, so look from whom you take your religion.”
Do not take your religion from just anyone who comes and goes. When you buy a car, you ask questions, you check details, you consult several people until you are confident in what you are buying. If this is the care you take in worldly matters, how much more should you take in the matter of your religion?
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Let each of you look at whom he befriends. A person is upon the religion of his companion. A person will be raised with the one he loves.”
It may happen that someone takes knowledge from a person of innovation, a person of deviation, or one who is known for trials and problems.
Without consulting the senior brothers, you may attach your heart to him, begin to love him, and then defend him against any criticism — even when he is clearly mistaken. This is following desires, and we seek refuge with Allah from that.
Therefore, O servant of Allah, be diligent in taking knowledge from the right people: those known for the Sunnah, firm upon it, consistent, and not known for tribulations or deviations.
Lastly, I advise you to take yourselves to account seriously regarding your remaining in the lands of disbelief. Strive to make Hijrah, O brothers. The situation today is not like it was in the past. The situation today is not like it before. Matters have become far more dangerous. The pressures and harms upon Muslims in these lands have only increased.
Now they are even making it obligatory upon children to adopt practices and mannerisms that are completely evil — and you know exactly what is meant by this.
I ask Allah to grant me and you success in all goodness. This will suffice for now. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions. Jazakum Allāhu Khayran.
وَالْحَاجُّ وَالْمُعْتَمِرُ وَفْدُ اللَّهِ دَعَاهُمْ فَأَجَابُوهُ وَسَأَلُوهُ فَأَعْطَاهُمْ
“The pilgrim performing Hajj and ‘Umrah are a delegation to Allah. He invited them, so He responded to them, and they ask Him and He gives to them.”

“The example of the miser and the one who spends is the example of two men wearing coats of armour made of iron, covering from their chests up to their collarbones.
As for the one who spends, he does not spend except that the armour expands or stretches …until it covers his skin, concealing even his fingertips and and covers his footprints (obliterates his tracks).
And as for the miser, he does not wish to spend anything except that every ring of the armour clings to its place, and when he tries to expand it, it does not widen.”

Alhamdulilāh by the tawfeeq of Allah, Today we kicked off our Islamic Studies, Arabic, and Quran program for children in South Manchester.
Our students jumped right in and made great progress across all subjects:
• 𝗤𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻 & 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗰: Learners began with the basics of reading the Quran in Arabic and started building their vocabulary.
• 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀: The focus was on understanding the importance of the Masjid, appreciating the value of the Masjid, and learning proper etiquette for visiting the house of Allah — including what to wear.
• 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Students learned how to perform Wudu correctly and had the opportunity to pray Salah together, followed by making supplications and duas.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, the Lord of all Creation. Among the blessings He has bestowed upon us is the establishment of the Salafi Centre Masjid in 2003. Alhamdulillāh, over the years, the call to Salafiyyah has grown, and our Masjid has become a thriving and busy centre.
To continue providing these services and maintain the Masjid as a welcoming and safe place, after the aid of Allah, we rely on the generosity of our community and brothers & sisters.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
Recently, we identified key improvement projects to preserve and enhance the masjid. These are outlined in a clear and transparent roadmap, so you can view our ongoing & upcoming projects.
We will continue to update the roadmap regularly, in shā’ Allāh, with up-to-date information on projects, figures and progress, so you can see the impact of your generous support, in shā’ Allāh.
We welcome your support in maintaining and improving one of the Houses of Allah. We ask Allāh to accept it from us, and to place it on our scales Yawm-al-Qiyaamah.
To install new entrance and exit doors on the men’s side to improve accessibility and flow. This includes upgrading the main front entrance by adding a steel lintel and installing two new, wider fire doors to ensure safer and more efficient entry and exit, and the internal men's entrance doors.
The men's musallah renovation focuses on upgrading and improving the internal condition, functionality and infrastructure of the men’s musallah.
The works include a combination of structural preparation, mechanical and electrical updates and full internal refurbishment in shā Allāh.
To install hot and cold air conditioning units across key Masjid areas. The total cost is approximately £650 per unit, including fitting.
These units will serve multiple essential spaces, including classroom flats used for Jumu’ah prayers, children’s activities and sisters’ prayer areas, as well as smaller women’s musallah spaces. Providing both heating and cooling will ensure a comfortable environment for all throughout the year.
We have identified and need to address the urgent issue of several leaks in the Masjid roof. Fixing these leaks is a high priority to prevent water from damaging the prayer areas, classrooms and electrical systems. Includes Roof Repairs & Drain Pipe Fixing (Flooding Issue)
The safety of the hundreds of children attending our schools and clubs is something we wish to enhance, by upgrading existing CCTV systems to add 8 new cameras and upgrade our NVR recording equipment to accomodate. This will, in shā Allāh, provide comprehensive monitoring of the premises and create a safer environment for everyone who benefits from the Masjid.
The next critical phase of our improvement work is the repair of the external walls and rendering. This essential maintenance is crucial for protecting the Masjid\'s structure from water damage and dampness. This will, in shā Allāh, safeguard the building helping to preserve the House of Allah for the community for many years to come.
The next phase of our security and safety upgrades will secure the car park entrance with a new access point and safety rails. Alhamdulillāh, last year we undertook the tarmaccing of the Masjid car park, and now we will improve on this further. The new gate will control vehicle access, while the safety rails will create clear, safe walkways for pedestrians, making it safer for families and children.
To better manage access to the Masjid grounds, we are planning to install a new secure lock and controlled access point on the main pedestrian gate. This important improvement will, in shā Allāh, prevent unauthorised entry and ensure the site is secure.
Update: Alhamdulillah this appeal is complete and we thank Allah first and foremost and then our brothers, attendees and Community for their generosity. May Allāh place it on your scales yawm-al-Qiyāmah.
As the community continues to grow, the Masjid is in daily use — five daily prayers, Jumu’ah, lessons, Qur’an classes, evening programmes and Ramadhaan activities.
With that comes significant gas & electricity costs.
This appeal is to help cover the essential utility bills that keep the lights on, the heating running, and the Masjid comfortable for worshippers.

Alhamdulillāh, we have begun work on the new rain shelters at the Masjid. This improvement at the current schools (& mens' prayers) entrance will, in shā Allāh make it easier and safer for parents picking up their children. It will also ensure comfort and protection for those attending the Masjid, especially as Winter approaches.

This is a much-used space by women, families and children across multipe community clubs & schools. Thi work will in sha Allah protect the cabin from weather damage and deterioration by applying a fresh coat of durable exterior paint, ensuring its longevity and improving its appearance.
To complete the renovation of the prayer hall, we will be making changes to the ceiling. This work is necessary to improve insulation, upgrade the lighting for a brighter environment and enhance the overall appearance of the musallā, in shā Allāh.
Alhamdulillāh, the next stage of the internal works will be the installation of new doors and fixtures. This will give the entire renovation a professional, high-quality finish and improve soundproofing.
Ground stabilisation works around the entire Masjid perimeter, including filling and reinforcing with stone resin or concrete, finished with stone surfacing. This will strengthen the surrounding ground, improve durability, and provide added stability for the perimeter fencing.

All praise is due to Allāh, Lord of all creation. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and all his Companions.
Alhamdulillāh, by the permission of Allāh, we have been able to complete important renovation works at the Masjid during the summer break. These upgrades will, in shā’ Allāh, bring benefit to the hundreds of children, families and musalleen who attend during the week.

The walls of the main prayer hall have been fully sanded and freshly painted, keeping the Musallāh clean, bright and welcoming for all.
Alhamdulillāh, the back prayer rooms have been fully refurbished with fresh paint on all walls, new light fixtures installed and a new carpet. These spaces are now ready to welcome back our students and attendees alike.
The sisters’ selling room has been fully renovated with new cupboards, worktops and a more functional layout. This space is an important source of income that helps the Masjid move towards becoming more self-sustaining in supporting da’wah, maintenance & community activities.
The ceiling in the men’s corridor has been repaired to preserve the building and ensure safety for all attendees.
Major drainage works have been completed in the men’s toilets with a new guttering system installed. This resolves long-standing issues with blockages that previously caused recurring costs.
Brand-new lighting has been installed in all classrooms, creating a brighter and more welcoming atmosphere for Tuition Club, Qur’ān School and Saturday School students. These spaces are also used by sisters during busy prayer times such as Jumu’ah and Taraweeh.
New shoe racks have been built and painted to better accommodate the increasing numbers at Jumuʿah and other busy times.
Allāh, the Most High, said:
“The mosques of Allāh shall be maintained only by those who believe in Allāh and the Last Day, perform the prayer, give the zakāh, and fear none but Allāh. It is they who are upon true guidance.” (At-Tawbah 9:18)
We ask Allāh to reward all those who donated, volunteered and supported these efforts. May Allāh accept it and place it heavy on your scale of good deeds, Āmīn.
