Why we are asking for your support

Your earlier donations and the masjid’s savings helped fund much of the work on the men’s musallā. As the renovation progressed, additional work became necessary, so we took a loan to complete it to a high standard.

Much of the work is now complete, and we are seeking your help to repay that loan. We thank Allāh, and then everyone who has contributed their time, skills and donations.

£30,000

Our aim is to raise £30,000 towards repaying the renovation loan.

The work, from preparation to finishing

Follow the transformation from the first preparations through to the finishing work.

The widened entrance during the March preparation work.

Opening up the space

In March, work began by widening the entrance. The old suspended ceiling was then removed, opening up the room for the wiring, ceiling and wall repairs that followed.

The unfinished ceiling in April, showing boarding and open recesses for the decorative panels.

Doors, framing and ceiling preparation

During April, new entrance and sliding doors were installed, alongside the men’s office framing. Ceiling boarding and cut-outs prepared the room for its new lighting and decorative panels.

Electrical work and data cabling

By May, the first-fix electrical work was complete, including a full rewire, a new consumer board and CAT6 data cabling. The office had also been boarded and jointed.

Sound and heating

In July, the ceiling speakers were brought into use and the heating pipework was altered. Relocating the radiators beneath the windows made better use of the prayer space.

Tiling and painting in progress beneath the new ceiling and lighting in August.

Tiling, coving and painting

In August, the porcelain wall tiles, coving, warm lighting and decorative panels brought the room together. Painting and the remaining finishing work followed.

The transformation so far

By September, the ceiling panels, lighting and wall finishes were in place and the entrance doors had been painted. The replacement carpet arrived in October, and on 26 October the old carpet was lifted so that the new one can be fitted. We will share the completed room once fitting is finished.
