Support Our Masjid: Ramadhan 2025 Appeal

Ramadhan 2025 Appeal: Support Your Masjid & Community Centre!

As-Salaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu,

We pray this message finds you in the best of health and iman. Alhamdulillah, as we start the blessed month of Ramadhan, we are launching this appeal. May Allah grant us all the opportunity to reach and benefit from this month, where deeds are multiplied and made easier.

Over the past few months, the masjid has undertaken numerous projects to enhance its facilities, increase capacity, and accommodate more worshippers, as well as to maintain and repair what we already have. Through various efforts—such as Jummah sales, public donations, and using savings from other projects—the masjid has been largely self-sufficient in raising funds.

However, as a non-profit entity with a strong focus on da’wah, teaching Islam, and assisting the poor, we continue to face financial shortfalls. The minimum wage will be inceraesing again in April, as have all operating expenses, including utility bills and other essential costs. The masjid has always run a deficit, and with rising repair and maintenance costs, the financial burden has only grown heavier.

Alhamdulillah, here are some of the positive developments we’ve made over the last year:

  • New Shed and Selling Area:

The newly constructed shed and selling area have already raised over £2,000 in sales. This space also serves as a place where children at our clubs can learn cooking skills, enriching their education in practical and beneficial ways.

  • Regular Sports Sessions for Children:

We have been organizing regular sports sessions for children, including activities like football, wrestling clubs and more, providing an outlet for them to stay active and engaged in a healthy environment.

  • Energy Bill Deficit:

As energy bills have risen, we were unfortunately locked into a high tariff. We have only been able to afford the estimated payments, leaving us with a £6,000 deficit on our electricity and gas bills alone. This is a significant challenge that we are working hard to resolve.

  • Tarmacking the Car Park:

Recently, we raised funds to tarmac the car park, which will soon be undertaken, improving the masjid’s accessibility and overall facilities for visitors and worshippers.

  • New Container and Additional Space:

Last year, we raised funds for the new container, that allowed us to add a classroom and a prayer room for the elderly and disabled. This space was fully utilised during Taraweeh prayers and has become one of the most comfortable and accessible areas of the masjid, all thanks to your generous contributions.

  • Job Creation:

The masjid provides employment for over 50 brothers and sisters, across various roles including administration, schools, da’wah initiatives, and more. We continue to provide a halal environment where people can work and grow in both their personal and professional lives.

  • Bookshop Achievements (Over the Last 9 Months):

Our bookshop has seen great success in the past months. It provides a vital space for the community, including hosting lessons and providing access to Islamic resources. Some key developments include:

– Hosting Quran classes for children and a weekend madrasah that will be starting soon.

– Women’s Arabic classes & Quran classes will also be starting soon, further enriching the educational offerings for our community.

– The bookshop continues to be a source of knowledge and spiritual growth for the community.

Despite these accomplishments, we are still facing challenges:

  • Operating Expenses:

With rising costs across the board—especially in maintenance, repairs, and energy bills—we are facing an **estimated shortfall of £70,000** over the next year.

  • Masjid Maintenance:

We urgently need to address repairs, such as broken fences, upgrading the sound system, and fixing prayer rooms and classrooms.

  • Completion of Men’s Musallah Renovations:

We aim to complete the Men’s musallah renovations this summer, which includes updating the walls and improving the heating system.

Please take this opportunity therefore, in the blessed month of Ramadhaan and outside of it – to do good deeds; strive in charity; and gain reward from Allah.

“Whoever builds a masjid for the sake of Allah, Allah will build for him a house in jannah” (Bukhari)

So let us work together and continue making the masjid the best it can be! May Allah bless and reward you all with much goodness.

A Reminder Regarding The Pillars of Gratitude

Allah [The Most High] says:

So that you may mount on their backs, and then may remember the Favour of your Lord when you mount thereon, and say: “Glory to Him Who has subjected this to us, and we could never have it (by our efforts). And verily, to Our Lord, we indeed are to return!” [Surah Az-Zukhruf. Ayaat 13-14]

Imam As-Sadi [may Allah have mercy upon him] said: The Ayah highlights the three pillars of gratitude, which encompass the acknowledgement of Allah’s blessings, openly expressing gratitude for them, and utilising these blessings to engage in acts of worship solely for the sake of Allah.

Regarding Allah’s saying: [ثُمَّ تَذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ رَبِّكُمْ إِذَا اسْتَوَيْتُمْ – And then may remember the favour of your Lord when you mount thereon], this specific mention is intended to draw attention to the time when a person enjoys those favours because blessings intoxicate many people, leading them to heedlessness, evil, and ungratefulness. Therefore, this situation where Allah commanded (us to remember Him) is a remedy for this destructive ailment. When a person remembers that they are surrounded by Allah’s blessings and that everything comes from Allah and not from oneself, but rather blessings are facilitated by Allah and its means are from Him, one then submits to Allah, humbles himself, thanks and praises Allah, and he is bestowed continuous blessings.

Regarding the statement of Allah: [وَإِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا لَمُنقَلِبُونَ – And verily, to Our Lord, we indeed are to return], this serves as an acknowledgement of recompense (in the Afterlife) and preparing for because the objective behind these favours is to assist a servant of Allah in carrying out the obligations commanded by Allah. [(1)]

First and foremost, it is incumbent upon all of us to ask Allah to enable us to seek His guidance to embrace gratitude in every aspect of our lives and continuously self-reflect and seek His forgiveness. Furthermore, we pray for Allah’s blessings and success upon all those who have contributed their wealth towards this project. Similarly, we extend our supplications to everyone who will dedicate their time to the bookstore. We kindly request everyone, for the sake of Allah, to not hesitate in offering us advice as we are only human and will make mistakes. If you notice anything concerning the bookstore that goes against the Salafi Manhaj, please do not hesitate to share your feedback with us directly or through someone who can reach us, particularly our respected Mashaayikh.

The bookstore has been established as a Limited by Guarantee company, following the standard practice for not-for-profit organizations. Members do not have any rights to profits, and most of them will be individuals other than the Masjid Committee. Their names will be revealed once the bookstore opens, InShaaAllah. The ultimate goal is for the bookstore to become a permanent physical location in south Manchester to support Dawah efforts, including the Da’wah stall and masjid activities. Once the bookstore becomes self-sufficient and covers its expenses, any additional funds will be reinvested in Dawah activities.

The present Masjid Committee bears witness to this statement, namely:

Our elder – Abu Khalid (Dawud Stonehouse) Al-Britani
Our elder – Abul Faarooq (Kamaal Al-Libi)
Abu Aa’isha (Amjad Khan) Al-Baakistani
Abu Eesa (Faizal) At-Turki
Abu Mu’aawiyah (Abdullah Jallow) Al-Fulani Al-Gambi

NEW Salafi Bookstore in Manchester

Wonderful News!!

Asalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu

We hope and pray you are in the best of eemaan. The masjid has some great news to share, and we pray this assists in us pushing on and spreading the dawa more throughout Manchester.

We are in the process of finalising a lease on a brand-new bookshop and dawah centre. It’s not been easy to find something but we have tried to find the best place possible to accommodate both enough books, free literature as well as allowing small sittings and potentially lessons in the future by taken adjacent buildings.

We will announce the location in due course due to the sensitive nature of negotiations. However as we are at the stage of agreeing terms we thought to bring this to your attention so that you may contribute to such a blessed dawah centric activity.

Sahl bin Sa’d (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) said to ‘Ali (May Allah be pleased with him), “By Allah, if a single person is guided by Allah through you, it will be better for you than a whole lot of red camels.” Recorded in Al-Bukhari and Muslim (Riyad as-Salihin 1379).

In order to set up the bookshop we estimate that it will cost us approximately £42,000. This includes the legal fees, deposit on the building, the full refurbishment costs (electrical, plumbing, lighting, flooring, ceiling) furniture fixings, signage (external and internal) and then most important of all the books to stock and dawa material; as well as further stock to sell in order to raise funds to sustain the centre.

Please note our goal is only to make enough money so that it can carry out its main purpose, which is to call to Islam. Alongside the weekly city centre dawa stall we have, this will hopefully form a good central hub for people who are maybe new to Islam or want more information.

So we ask that you donate generously if you are able, to this noble cause of spreading Islam and teaching it to people – and rectifying the basics of the religion and assisting Muslims all over Manchester to return to the sunnah.
