Chapter 15: Encouragement to spend generously in avenues of good, and warning against withholding and hoarding out of miserliness
Hadith 914: On the authority of Abū Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said:
“Indeed, an angel stands at one of the gates of Paradise and says:
من يقرض اليوم يجز غدا؟
‘Who will give a loan today, so that it will be repaid tomorrow?’
And an angel stands at another gate and says:
اللهم أعط منفقا خلفا، وأعط ممسكا تلفا
“O Allah, compensate the one who spends, and bring ruin to the one who withholds.”
